Earlier in the summer my friend Dan Tedesco sent me an email to see if I would be interested in contributing to the blog of a new media start-up called China Personified. The goal of the site is to proliferate the stories of young people pursuing their dreams, with all of these dreams involving China. This means that there are people like myself, who grew up in the US and studied in China, contributing, as well as Chinese students who have dreamed of living their life between China and the outside world. It seemed like a great idea, and so I told him I would help out for sure.
Dan put me in touch with the founder, Mable Chan, who had worked in the US media at places like ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, and Fox for years. Mable, after hearing about my Fulbright comedy project and reading a writing sample, put me in charge of the comedy beat for the blog, which I will be contributing to for the foreseeable future.
The first blog post of mine was posted last week and can be seen here. In it, I discuss how I found a way to mix my American life and the experiences I had in China into one plan for this coming year. You can read the blog post here:

Another cool thing is that China Personified translates all their blog writers’ work into Chinese for the Chinese media audience as well. For those who would like to read the Chinese, it is right here. Note that even though they didn’t make it clear, I did not write this translation—I’m not that good yet—but seeing my ideas translated into Chinese makes me eager to be able to write such a piece myself in that language.
